Argentine legend Angel Di Maria has signed with boyhood club Rosario Central. And will join the team after helping current club Benfica compete in the Club World Cup next month.

Last summer, Di Maria expressed his desire to return to Rosario. But was unwelcomed by a group of fans, who even threatened to kill him, so his plans were temporarily shelved.

However, Di Maria has not given up on his intentions. Last Thursday, Argentine top flight side Rosario announced that the 37-year-old had officially signed a pre-contract agreement.

Di Maria began his career at Rosario in 2005, making 39 appearances for the senior team. Before moving to Europe in 2007, where he eventually joined Benfica.
